It was also planted in the Sebangau National Park in Central Kalimantan. However, I also get its exact coordinates! Many companies are cutting down more trees than they are permitted to or they are cutting down trees without a permit at all.

According to the Stop Stealing Our Forests cause, 80 percent of the planet’s ancient forests have been destroyed by logging and it’s having a considerable effect on greenhouse gases in the atmosphere.

Not only does deforestation affect the planet on a global scale, it also impacts local communities and native flora and fauna which rely on the forests which are being destroyed on a daily basis to satisfy demand of customers around the world.

Not all is bad though, a great cause has been established by Friends of the Earth Europe and Millieu Defensie. It’s called “Stop Stealing our Forests” and it aims to help influence the instigation of legislation in the European Union which requires all wood in the Union to be legally logged.

They’re running a campaign which they hope to create awareness about this issue by planting trees illegally in highly trafficked spots in major cities around the world. I think this could go viral if enough people get behind them. Check out one of the videos they have up there at the moment:

They’re currently looking for more environmental advocates to speak up and get their cause recognised around the world. Take a look over here at the Stop Stealing Our Forests website.

Also, you can help them out now by placing the following banner on your site:

Check out their cause now, and stop illegal logging from destroying this planet.
